notes on the body

everyday that I spend hating my body is a day missed that I could have spent loving it

i only get one life in this body of mine

so as the days pass and I pick at this and worry about that in the mirror

i am missing out on a day that I could have spent loving what I have instead

i can’t change my body into being able to love it

i have to love it now

fully

imperfections and stray hairs and wildly long legs and all

i choose to love my body now, as it is, as beautiful as it always has been

i choose to change my mind instead, to change my perception

to open the creeky windows and rusty doors of my mind and scream out loud, “HELLO! WAKE UP! DO YOU KNOW HOW BEAUTIFUL YOU ARE?”

do you know how I dream to bow down at the altar of your body and worship you fully?

you are magic, my love

you are holy

you are only this beautiful, dear, sweet, strong, whole body once

enjoy it, my love

enjoy

“Sit. Feast” (Derek Walcott) on your beautiful body.

All for now,

All my love,

Onward.
