tucked away in the mountains

It’s been a week since I packed up my life and left Vancouver Island. A week of mountains. A week of driving with the music up loud, yelling out my favourite lyrics over the speakers, stopping on the side of the highway to take in the views, slowing down to remember everything. Slowing down as I welcome myself home in to a new chapter.

I’m now tucked away in the mountains in one of my favourite mountain towns, sitting in one of my favourite cafes eating gluten free pizza, listening to Ziggy Alberts and Noah Kahan play over the speakers, drinking an iced chai latte. I couldn’t be happier, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Pinching myself that this is my life, that my dream is coming true.

Here are some lessons from week one on the road:

  • Slow down.

  • When there’s a viewpoint or a spot to stop, stop. Take it all in. Breathe. Drop into the body.

  • It’s okay to lose things that were never yours to keep in the first place - people, places, things. All of it.

  • Practice gratitude, every day.

  • Remember that you’re a part of something so much bigger than you know.

  • It’s all mystery soup.

  • Surrender.

  • Be here now.

  • Turn down the volume on the worrying part of the mind.

  • Be in the body, not the head.

  • Book your campsites in advance (depending on the kind of traveller you want to be).

  • Sing and dance and laugh and cry as you run through the alpine.

All for now,

All my love,

Onward.
